Burton Rail Jam at Wisp
by gotbob on Feb.12, 2010, under Event, Sports
I stopped by Wisp last night to find the Burton Rail Jam was winding up. Some of my daughters friends were participating in the Jamfest, so I thought I would bust out the camera and try to capture some of the nonstop action. These kids RAWKed this terrain park. They had three heats and the best two runs were calculated. Top three from each category won some narly Burton gear. You can see and order prints from my gallery page for the Burton Rail Jam.
Garrett County Sports

I have finally freed up some time to spend it with my daughter at some Northern High School Huskie games. The lack of entertainment in the area during the week, high school sports rule. Winters out here are a little desolate. At the few sporting events that I have already attended, I was real surprised how popular Wresting was this area. They take this sport pretty serious. Boys basketball had quite the draw as well. I have yet to see the Lady Huskies play basketball and they are the ones that really have a following.
I wasn’t going to post the photos, but have had some inquiries by parents about my shots. I do this as a hobby for now. If you want specific sports photographed, please send me an email and I will see if I can make it. Hopefully you can find shots of your child.
You can find all Sporting Events listed in this gallery. Click here to get instructions on how to purchase prints.
House Family Reunion
by gotbob on Sep.07, 2009, under Event
Labor Day at a park with the smell of burgers and hot dogs…mmmm. How else do you celebrate one of the holidays that marks the end of summer? The Houses spend their Labor day reminiscing about the good ole days with a good ole fashion family reunion. I was invited by a friend to take photos of this special event. In between eating (which was outstanding by the way,) I grabbed up some candid shots and managed to get groups of each family together. As “Hank” said when he introduced me to the crowd…”If you don’t think pictures aren’t important, take a look at the collection from days past in the book that everyone put together of our ancestors and you will see the importance.”
The event wraps up with a discussion and stories of days past. I didn’t know a soul except for one prior to going, but felt I knew the whole family afterwards. A family that proudly grew up in the Middletown Valley with plenty of stories to tell. Thanks for the invite. I hope I captured a few moments in time that make it to Aunt Prissy’s book. You can see the whole collection by clicking here. Here are the instruction on how to order prints and also other memorabilia.
Have a great day.
2009 Keystone Games in York PA
by gotbob on Jul.25, 2009, under Sports
I went up to York, PA this week to watch my nephew play some baseball. He has been pretty darn good ball player since he was knee high to a grasshopper. However, this week their team didn’t have the depth in their pitching staff to help them out…well they didn’t have the depth in any position. They played 9 players all week. Yep, cook, waiter, and head bottle washer…all in one. Poor kids arms were about to fall off after a couple games. Hopefully the college team scouts found some highlights out of the uphill battle.
I had just purchased a new lens and it really didn’t impress me much. So back to the store it goes. I did manage to get a few decent shots of the event. You can see all them on the Keystone Games gallery page
1st Wedding under my belt – Thanks Chris Vigliotti
by gotbob on Jun.20, 2009, under Event, Portrait, Wedding
I had the opportunity to shoot my first wedding with Chris Vigliotti. He was gracious to ask me to help out as a 3rd shooter to get me started. It was a pretty good experience. I had been apprehensive of taking on the responsibility for a wedding. I think this is definitely something that I could grow into over time. So, still not accepting wedding request at this time, however, I will gladly step up to second shooter to help out the more skilled photographers with their clients. It’s not that I don’t have the skills, there is just so much to learn and understand in the wedding business. I really had a lot of fun shooting Caitlin and Brandon. I hope they enjoy the shots that I contributed for many years to come. Below are a few of my favorite shots out of the 300+ that I contributed.
